What does our world look like ten years from today? It’s an
important question because we get whatever we put our
individual and collective attention on. To live an aligned
life, you need to be able to reconcile how your work and
contribution today ultimately leads to a more sound, just,
sensible, and wise global society in the future.
For most of us, thinking about how to solve the world’s ills
is too much to bear. The problems can seem overpowering
and inconceivably large. Besides, you’ve got a mortgage to
pay. But it’s also impossible to live your life with your head
in the sand, only concerned about you and your immediate
family. We’re all in this ship together. Everything is
interconnected. Imbalance in one section will ultimately
swing around and cause imbalance in another section.
I’m not suggesting you go out and join the peace core. In fact,
I’m not suggesting you try to fix the world at all. The world
will be just fine. But I am suggesting that you find the joy in
your contribution and get a clear, vivid, positive picture of
what the world can look like ten years from now. Then
recognize how you doing your small part will help lead us
all toward that positive vision. Let’s create that shift now in
this short exercise.
